Bibliography Format

("List of Works Cited")

Bibliography Format Bibliography Sample

The Elisabeth Morrow School requires Morrow House students to use the Modern Language Association (MLA) format for works cited.

An excellent resource:

Gibaldi, Joseph. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research. 6th ed. New York: The Modern Language Association of America, 2003.

You may use Citation Machine for help in compiling your sources. Choose MLA style. Copy and paste the citation into a document.

Underlines and italics may not copy properly to your word document. Double check format when using Citation Machine.

Format

You will need the following information: Title, Author, Place of Publication, Publisher, Copyright Date, and <URL if Internet source>

  • Begin each entry (source) flush with the left margin.
  • If an entry runs more than one line, indent the second line one tab space.
  • Double-space the entire list.
  • Alphabetize the list according to the author's last name.
  • If there is no author, begin the entry with the title.
  • Include page numbers for periodicals.
